Organisations that work with traditional, endangered livestock breeds around the world:
Rare Breeds Canada is a federally registered charitable organization formed in 1987. We are working to conserve, monitor and promote heritage and rare breeds of Canadian farm animals.
American Livestock Breeds Conservancy
The American Livestock Breeds Conservancy is a nonprofit membership organization working to protect over 150 breeds of livestock and poultry from extinction. Included are asses, cattle, goats, horses, sheep, pigs, rabbits, chickens, ducks, geese, and turkeys.
Rare Breeds Survival Trust (U.K.)
In 1973 RBST was founded to save our native breeds and since then no breed has become extinct. RBST is working to secure the future of our native breeds and to promote the important role they play in the conservation of genetic diversity, landscape management, agriculture and as part of our heritage and cultural identity.

Old breeds, which formed the basis for modern varieties, populations have become small or even threatened with extinction. They can no longer compete with modern high yielding varieties, they are rare. Yet there are good reasons to preserve this endangered species. With this objective in 1976 was the "Pet Rare Breeds Foundation" was established. Old varieties are the result of artificial breeding of the past and have a separate cultural and historical value. They are a source of biological diversity and variety show which varieties to our ancestors with targeted selection and breeding achievements.

FARM ( FERME in French) stands for (translated): Federation to promote the breeding of endangered domestic breeds. It is an association law 1901 in 1990 CEEE headquartered initially at the University Lyon 1, is currently located in the Loire Grézieux Fromental. It is independent of any political, religious and administrative matters; it does not receive subsidies. Its purpose is:"The protection of rare domestic breeds, considered as heritage and socio-economic gene pool. It involves the promotion of their skills and all other means or remedies. We are volunteers from various backgrounds:
